Taming Runaways Whites in Photoshop

In this video, a photo with clipped highlights is adjusted using the adjustment tools to bring back some detail into the over exposed regions.

The shadows and highlights adjustment is best used with smart objects to provide ongoing editablity.

Lens Correction, and the Straighten Tool for Corrective Rotation

A skewed horizon is a common place in photography and there are two avenues to easily resolving the issue in Photoshop CS5.

Both the Lens Correction filter in Photoshop CS5 and the tool box in Camera Raw feature a straigthen tool. This provides a pain-free method for levelling your horizon with a click and a drag of your mouse. In any photo where you can see the horizon, or at the least where you can see a reliable horizontal edge in some architectural element, then the straighten tool provides a quick fix which will help to put the world in its proper orientation.

Lens Correction, Layer Styles and Camera Raw for Vignetting

This video demonstrates four different ways of creating vignettes in Photoshop CS5.

Photoshop CS5 along with Camera Raw can produce a wide variety of vignette styles. Whilst Photoshop does a grand job, to really put in a first rate performance it's a good idea to be willing to include Camera Raw in your workflow. Camera Raw has a flexibility and feature set that beats Photoshop's, but with the ability to open Camera Raw images as smart objects we can enjoy the best of both worlds.
